I’m running all three at home now. I’m most satisfied with Ubuntu (Jaunty Jackalope).
It’s free, fast (running on a seven-year-old machine like a champ), and provides a pretty big sense of accomplishment. Even enjoying the command line.
The Mac is still the fave (I like the juicy iMac screen), but it comes with random shutdowns. Plus, I hate the Mighty Mouse.
But for the price, Ubuntu is king.

Does the scroll ball on your Mighty Mouse cause you fits? I love the way the wireless Mighty Mouse fits in my hand, the weight it has. But 50% of the time that ball just won’t scroll down.
I’ve read much about other people with similar issues and tips galore on how to clean the thing. I just know that any other scroll wheel I’ve had has not had the issues that Mighty Mouse scroll ball has.
I disconnected it and am back to the one-button mouse that came with my iMac.
Yup, that’s the problem. I always try the apply spit-on-the-roller-then-turn-it-upside-down-and-roll-on-a-piece-of-paper trick.
Funny that it’s always the down direction that gives me fits too.
